Syrian tanks have reportedly shelled Lebanese villages in the Akkar province close to the Lebanese-Syrian border in a battle with the rebel Free Syrian Army. One tank was destroyed on Thursday evening. Syrian agencies reported that Syrian authorities foiled an infiltration attempt from Lebanon to Syria via the illegal al-Tina crossing in Adeline, Talkalakh and claimed it had inflicted several casualties in the ranks of militants there. Lebanese security sources said to Arabstoday that the Syrian allegations were false. The sources said whenever Syrian forces bombed Lebanese villages, they did it under the pretext of fighting infiltrators. The sources denied there were casualties among villagers.
