Al Suez – Sayed Mohamed
A fight broke out between a female Syrian beggar and three others in a mosque in Al Suez, sources said. The woman, Marzouqa Ali al-Fahel attacked the men with her slippers in a mosque in Al-Mawshi. The three Syrian men accused al-Fahel of being a fraud and deceiving people to get money from them. Sources said al-Fahel stood outside the mosque every day and pleaded with the worshippers: “I ran away from Bashar dear Muslims… Please, I don’t have food or money to feed my children or pay rent.” On Friday, the mosque’s sheikh was about to hand her 2,000 Egyptian Pounds in donations for her when the three men intervened. They claimed she was a fraud and told him she had been kicked out of a refugee camp in Al-Hijaj village because she was falsely begging for money. “We knew she begged for money and that she actually lived in a luxurious hotel. She managed to get 10,000 Egyptian Pounds by begging on the streets and deceiving residents with a false story,” Wael Khaled, a refugee at the camp said. She has been scheming for big amounts of money from the residents around the area, they said. Al-Fahel apparently attacked the men with her slippers. A fight broke out between al-Fahel and the men, with the sheikh trying to calm things down. In the heat of the fight, the men managed to get a hold of her bag and discovered 8,000 Egyptian Pounds. They were all arrested and taken to a police station for the commotion, sources said. In a surprising twist of events, al-Fahel at the police station accused the men of stealing 10,000 Egyptian Pounds from her. They, on the other hand, accused her of selling two tons of meat which she got as a donation from Al Suez residents.
