Hundreds of mourners and protestors performed funeral prayers at Omar Makram Mosque for Mohammed al-Gendi and Amr Saad, the two men killed in clashes outside the Ittihadiya presidential palace this weekend. The funeral was attended by former presidential candidates Hamdeen Sabahi and Khaled Ali as well as activists George Ishak, Mona Mina and Mamdouh Hamza. Hundreds of other activists and Popular Current members were also present. Wrapped in the Egyptian flag, the two coffins were carried around Tahrir Square after the funeral. Hundreds of demonstrators chanted: "There is no god but Allah and Allah loves martyrs." Traffic along the Nile Corniche came to a standstill and guards outside the US and British embassies retreated as the march passed through. Marchers pelted US embassy guards with rocks and were met with volleys of tear gas.
