Tension prevailed here after Special Forces chief in Aden Brig. Gen. Abdel Hafez al Saqqaf rejected a decision by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to dismiss him, sources said on Thursday.
Saqqaf, affiliated to Houthis, rejected governor Abdel Aziz Bin Habtoor and other popular leaderships' mediation to accept the president's order.
Saqqaf barricaded himself in the Special Forces headquarters where he described Hadi's decision as "illegal", sources added.
Earlier, sources close to Saqqaf said he told mediation committee that he will accept the president's decision if the president decided to appoint another one who is affiliated to the Special Forces and not an intruder.
Meanwhile, sources asserted that Saqqaf's family has left here to Sanaa.
