Terror police investigate bomb attack at UK mosque

A suspected nail bombing of a West Midlands mosque on the first Friday of Ramadan is being treated as a terrorist attack, Metropolitan police have said. A large explosion was heard near Kanzul Iman Mosque in Binfield Street, Tipton, where residents reported finding nails and debris. No injuries were reported. Police said its counter terrorism unit was leading the investigation into the second bomb attack against a mosque in the area within three weeks. Labour MP for West Bromwich West, Adrian Bailey, said the attack may have been revenge for the murder of soldier Lee Rigby, whose funeral was held Friday. The Muslim Council of Britain has urged for calm as authorities conduct their investigations. The Council said: \"We are heartened by the Metropolitan police\'s decision to enhance police presence around mosques during Ramadan to reassure communities and ensure public safety. We hope this is being done at a national level. In the meantime it is important for all communities to come together in solidarity.\"
