Donald Trump has opened a five-point lead in the crucial state of Ohio as newly leaked emails on Wednesday cast Hillary Clinton's health in further question, and revealed her continued hard feelings over losing to Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary election.
No president since 1964 has won the White House without carrying Ohio, and no Republican has become president without winning the northern industrial state.
The new Bloomberg News poll was conducted last week before Clinton was seen on video collapsing into her van as she left a Sept. 11 memorial early on Sunday.
Instead of a hospital, Clinton was rushed to her daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan. Several hours later Clinton emerged looking better. Her doctor said she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday.
But the latest health scare for Clinton was the not the first. Photographs of her being helped up stairs or being propped-up by a secret service agent during a rally in April came way before the pneumonia diagnosis.
In new emails leaked on Wednesday it was revealed that Clinton has had trouble climbing stairs as early as 2015. A photograph from earlier this year shows her being helped up a stair case. And Clinton has been hit with coughing fits that have embarrassingly halted campaign speeches. The leaked emails also reveal Hillary Clinton "hates" Barack Obama because he beat her in the 2008 Democratic primary election.
The email was sent by Jeffery Leeds, a private equity investor close to the Clintons who wrote to former Secretary of State Colin Powell. 'It's the one prize [the presidency] she wants. She has everything else. And she HATES the President ("that man" as the Clintons call him) kicked her a** in 2008. She can't believe it or accept it," Leeds wrote to Powell.
Powell's anger with the Clinton campaign was reveal for trying to tie him to her trouble with keeping her emails on a private server in her home. Powell had written to Clinton when she took over the State Department saying that he had kept his emails also on a private server. Clinton has taken a week off from campaigning.
Meanwhile, Trump is facing his own difficulties. The New York State Attorney General has opened a corruption investigation into the Trump Foundation.
