Tunis - Arabstoday
An official Tunisian source has confirmed that authorities have arrested Al-Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi, the former-Libyan Prime Minister, as he attempted to leave Tunisia for Algeria. Colonel Mohammed Al-Maodb, the Ministry of Interior’s spokesman, that Al-Mahmoudi was arrested on Wednesday night in Tozeur, about 450 km southwest of Tunis. Mahmoudi was driving in a SUV, accompanied by 3 others. All four were detained and charged with illegally entering Tunisia after it became clear that none of the accused had been granted entry to Tunisia. The four were allegedly on their way to Algeria. They are expected to appear in court for the charges. Al-Mahmoudi is not the first former-Libyan official to be found illegally in Tunisia. Khouildi Hamidi, another Gaddafi associate, was arrested in Tunisia earlier this month on the same charges. He was later acquitted.
