Tunisian security officers have exchanged fire with armed individuals near the border with Algeria, security sources have confirmed. Security has been intensified in the northern city of Tageruin after an "unprovoked" attack on border patrol officers. Sources said than an armed group had opened fire on the officers, resulting in an exchange, before the group members fled the scene. Tunisian military aircraft are now hovering over the region to track down the armed groups. A Tunisian government spokesperson confirmed that a security officer had been injured during the clashes on Tuesday, and added that the armed group had evaded capture. He said that military forces had been deployed across the Tunisian governorate of Kaf to locate the perpetrators.
