Tunisia’s ruling Ennahda Movement condemned on Tuesday the political and media campaigns targeting former Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdul Salam. The party asserted in a statement that powers related to the former regime work to undermine the financial and ethical reputation of the former official. The statement added that the campaign aims to distract attention from the real source of corruption. The ruling party expressed its solidarity with the former foreign minister. The ruling confirmed that Abdul Salam has filed a case against those who accused him of corruption while in government. The former foreign minister described the accusations as a smear campaign aiming to harm his party’s reputation.
