Founder of the Democracy and Openness trend in the Moroccan Socialist Union Party, Trend Ahmed el-Zaydi has expressed his refusal to participate in the integration between the Labour Union and the Socialist Union under the title the Socialist Union. The idea was suggested by Socialist party President Idris Lushkor earlier this week. Sources told Arabstoday that the trend sent an email to its members calling them for participate in an internal restructure, demanding urgent meetings to discuss coordination of the matter. El-Zaydi said that after the Independence Party withdrew from government the socialist party must adopt a different position to distance themselves from the leadership crisis, in order to best serve the interests of the country. A Source related to el-Zaydi said that different possibilities are open, stating that they may defect from the union. The source did not rule out that they could establish a new political party that would adopt the same leftist position.
