Two rebels killed in Afghanistan

A roadside bomb tore through a military vehicle of international troops in the Bagram district of central Parwan province, where two insurgents were killed during a clash with police on Thursday, officials said. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) vehicle was on a patrol when it hit a landmine in the Khaniqa area, the Bagram district chief, Abdul Shakoor Qudoosi, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The vehicle was damaged in the blast, he said, but would not say if the troops suffered any casualties. A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed six soldiers aboard the vehicle were killed in the blast that destroyed the tank. Separately, two Taliban fighters were killed and four others injured during a clash with police in the Syagard district. A policeman was also wounded in the clash that took place on Wednesday night. A Taliban commander identified as Ahmad Zia was among the dead. The injured rebels included another commander, the district police chief, Col. Mohammad Saleh, said.
