UAE Embassy organises first UAE-New Zealand Economic

The UAE Embassy in New Zealand organised the first trade summit between the UAE and New Zealand during the visit of a government trade delegation from Dubai, which was attended by Todd McClay, Minister of Trade, as a representative of the New Zealand government, along with 120 businessmen and women from various sectors.

In his opening speech, Saleh Ahmed Alzreem Al Suwaidi, the UAE Ambassador to New Zealand, commended the relations between the two countries, stressing that it was developing and growing in the trading and technical fields.

Al Suwaidi praised the decision of the New Zealand government to allocate a budget to build the New Zealand pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai, which will help the country access new markets in the region through the UAE. Expo 2020 is considered a major trading platform in the region.

McClay welcomed the visiting delegation, underlining the strong relations between New Zealand and the UAE, especially in trade.

The minister expressed his ambition for the signing of the free trade agreement between New Zealand and the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, to strengthen commercial growth between both sides.

The trade summit between New Zealand and the UAE discussed the Islamic economy sector, as well as the opportunities before and during Expo 2020 Dubai.

The trade delegation from the UAE was presided over by Dubai Exports, with active participation from the representatives of Expo 2020 Dubai, Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, Dubai Food Complex, Dubai Airport Free Zone, Salma Initiative for Halal Food Relief, Al Rais Travel and Shipping Agencies, and the Al Bayan Newspaper.
