
The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar asserted on Friday that the Yemeni crisis could be settled by meeting the legitimate demands of the southerners in Yemen, including their right to partake in sharing power in Yemen.
He made the remarks after his meeting with a number of leaders of the secessionist Southern Movement.
In a statement, Benomar warned of turning the south to a place full of tensions that could pose a threat to Yemen, the region and the global peace and security In light of the ongoing power struggle in Sanaa.
He added that he reviewed with them the current situation in Yemen and their potential effect on the situation in the south.
