US Embassy in Brussels evacuated

The U.S. Embassy in Belgium was evacuated Wednesday after officials said they noticed a suspicious van parked nearby. The diplomatic outpost in Brussels, along with the Belgian defense minister\'s office, were emptied while police investigated the van, which didn\'t have any license plates and had loose wires hanging from it. A Belgian army bomb squad employed a robot to inspect the van, which did not contain any explosives, the news Web site Flandersnews.be reported. Officials were allowed to re-enter their offices later that afternoon after the security alert was lifted.
