"Tunisia should be more transparent in its dealings with terrorist groups" said US Senator John McCain. The Senator called for authorities to ensure human rights are protected by committing to transparency in security. Tunisian Prime Minister Ali Larayedh and Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi met with McCain at the Government Palace in Tunis. McCain revealed that during the meeting they discussed the development and progress of the democratic process in Tunisia, and establishing a framework to promote areas of partnership between the two countries. “Tunisia has changed for the better,” stated the Senator as he praised the deep rooted historical connection of the two countries. He thanked Tunisia for its efforts in providing protection of the US embassy, pointing out that security is a fundamental factor in achieving democracy. Prime Minister Larayedh has recently expressed his commitment to human rights in all parts of the world.
