Cairo - Akram Ali
The Egyptian Wafd Party has highlighted the need for an end to all violence and sit-ins, and called for the prosecution of leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood who have incited people to commit violence, in order to pave the way for national reconciliation. Party spokesman Fouad abu-Hamila said in a press release, \"We praise the efforts of the Grand Sheikh of al-Azhar, Dr Ahmed el-Tayeb, to overcome the political crisis in Egypt and to achieve national reconciliation.\" He added it was necessary to put an end to the violence that has dominated the Egyptian streets since the ousting of Egypt\'s former President Mohammed Morsi from power and that the Brotherhood leadership responsible should be prosecuted. Abu-Hamila said in the statement that the Egyptian crisis could not be resolved without an inclusive reconciliation between the different parties in the political arena to open the door for democratic change. He expressed his party\'s insistence on implementing the roadmap drafted by the armed forces in participation with other political powers. He added that the Egyptian people would not accept attempts adopted by the Muslim Brotherhood to undermine the June 30 revolution.
