Yemen security officer, son shot dead

A gunman riding on the back of a motorbike shot dead a

Yemeni intelligence officer and his son in the southeastern city of Mukalla on

Thursday, Yemen News Agency (SABA) reported.
An official source in Mukala police explained that, former security director of

Mukalla District Col. Salmin Alaubthani and his son Awadh came under fire, while

he was driving his car on the road heading to his home, and they were seriously

injured and died before reaching Ibn Sina’a Hospital.
“Despite the serious injury of Col. Alaubthani, he was able to steer his car to collide

with the terrorists’ motorcycle and threw them to the ground, but they were able to

escape on their feet leaving their motorcycle “, the source added.
Mukalla has seen a number of terrorist attacks claimed by Al-Qaeda since the

beginning of this year and over the two past years and targeted security and

military officers and facilities.
