Yemen works to free kidnapped South Africans

Yemeni authorities confirmed that five kidnapping suspects have been arrested. The accused allegedly kidnapped a South African man and wife on Monday in Taez city. Security sources in Taez told Arabstoday that the local authority had imposed a security cordon in the city to catch the suspects. Meanwhile, South African diplomats have arrived to Sanaa to meet Yemeni officials to discuss releasing the couple. AFP reported that the spokesman of South African foreign affairs Clasion Monilla said that the kidnapped man is Al Mister Beir. Businessman and hotelier Beir along with his wife was kidnapped at gunpoint and taken to an undisclosed location. Yemeni security sources expect that the kidnapping is related to disputes regarding Beir’s investments.
