A Yemeni Military Affairs Committee approved a series of measures to secure the main road linking the capital Sanaa with areas west of the country, against the backdrop of repeated incidents by armed tribesmen. A source in the military committee said to Arabstoday on Saturday evening that the Committee approved the establishment of a security zone to protect the Sanaa-Hadidah area. Army units have been stationed in various places on the road as well as an approval to resort to the use of Yemeni Air Forces to trail those who cut the road. While local observers considered this decision a late step by the Committee, they confirmed that it will also increase confrontations with armed tribesmen, who usually resort to cutting through the road.
