Yemeni president adviser leaves country with family

The Yemeni President adviser and Yemeni Socialist Party leader Yassin Said Numan left Sanaa with his family on Sunday, less than a week after an assassination plot against him. The assassination attempt took place in the Yemeni capital. A gunman opened fire on his car but he was not hurt. One of his party members will attend the meetings of the Preparatory Committee on his behalf. Committee spokeswoman Amal al-Basha said that Numan did not attend the meetings of the Committee on Sunday, and that he had left the country accompanied by his family for medical treatment. She added that he delegated his colleague Abdullah Baveb to attend the meetings of the Committee on his behalf. Sources close to Numan told Arabstoday that he left Sanaa with his family on Sunday towards the United Arab Emirates and that he\'s planning to go to Europe. There are speculations on the real reason why Numan left the country. Some political observers expect that Yassin Said Numan has been assigned a special mission by President Hadi. Those observers expect him to meet his colleague, former President South Yemen Ali Salem al-Baid in London in order to persuade him to participate in the national dialogue conference and abandon his request for secession. On the other hand, left-wing activists who are close to Numan believe that his departure was a clear protest because those who were responsible for his assassination attempt were protected by security and military forces. Numan\'s assassination attempt was widely condemned.  Marches were organise to protest and condemn the assassination plot. Reports said that the incident was accidental, after a misunderstanding occurred with one of the soldiers at the checkpoint. Yassin Said Numan is one of the most prominent political figures in Yemen. He is the leader in the Joint Meeting Parties coalition (JMP) that has half the ministries of the current government of national reconciliation, and he was head of the JMP in 2011. Moreover, he was appointed on in May as the political adviser to Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi. Numan was the head of the first parliament in the united Yemen from 1990 to 1993, and he was the head of the last government in the People\'s Democratic Republic of Yemen from 1986 to 1990. The National Dialogue Technical Committee approved the formation of a team to draft the program of the Conference of national dialogue. Some government sources said that the Committee discussed within the framework of the general program of national dialogue : the issue of the South;  Saada; the drafting of the Constitution; the restructuring of the military and security forces; the democratisation of civil society; the reform of the judiciary; the participation of women in public life and the protection of vulnerable groups.
