A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan lost his life in a non-battle related injury on Wednesday, a statement of the alliance released here said. "An International Security Assistance Force service member died as a result of a non-battle related injury in southern Afghanistan today," the statement said. However, it did not reveal the nationality of the victim and the nature of the injury, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities. Troops mostly from the United States and Britain have been serving in the southern region of Afghanistan. This is the first casualty that ISAF suffered in the conflict- ridden Afghanistan where the NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force is going to end combat mission by the end of 2014. In 2013 a total of 160 service members of the NATO-led forces lost their lives in Afghanistan.
