10 killed, 18 injured in east Iraq bombing attacks

As many as 10 people have been killed and 18 others injured in two bomb attacks in the eastern Iraq province of Diyala. The blasts took place at a coffee shop in a village near the town of Baqubah, 65 kilometers (40 miles) to the northeast of Baghdad, on Thursday, Reuters reported. According to Iraqi security sources, the first attack was a car bombing, in which 10 people died and 15 others were wounded. Another bomb, which had been planted inside the coffee shop, went off subsequently, injuring three other people, the sources said. Earlier in the day, a roadside bomb blast and a car bomb explosion killed five civilians and injured 27 others in Baghdad. On April 19, at least 36 people died and about 150 others were wounded after more than 20 bomb attacks hit different regions across the country. Bombings and killings take place across the country on a daily basis, often targeting Shia-majority areas and local security forces.
