21 detention centres for illegal immigrants to be set up in Russia by 2016

As many as 21 special detention centres will be set up in Russia by 2016 to hold illegal immigrants who are guilty of serious criminal offenses and are to be expelled from Russia, Yelena Radochina, deputy head of the Federal Migration Service (FMS), said in a broadcast of radio Echo of Moscow on Tuesday. “According to the government’s directive, 21 such detention centres will be spaced out on Russia’s territory, and there will be such centres in Moscow, too,” she said. Oleg Moldiyevsky, head of the FMS department for the Moscow region, said there would be four such centres in the region. A special regime will operate on the territories of these centres and they should meet definite requirements, the officials said.
