220 Members of Parliament on Tuesday declared their support for anti-capitalism protests around the world including Occupy Wall Street in a statement they issued on Tuesday. The statement noted that the anti-capitalism protests organized by oppressed laborers, students, retired people around the world go ahead to disclose the hidden hands of one percent governing capitalists who are behind sufferings of the world population. The MPs called on the western governments to protect the life and freedom of protesters, adding that the protests augur well, heralding the fall of capitalist system. The statement referred to the letter by Founder of Islamic Republic late Imam Khomeini to Mikhail Gorbachev, the last president of former Soviet Union and said that western governments should take a lesson from the fall of USSR. The statement pointed to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s speech about the spread of regional awakening movement to the heart of Europe and expressed that Iranian MPs will not keep silent toward the waves of arrests of protesters by the western governments. Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States as well as over 1,500 cities globally. OWS movement is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations. Protesters say the western governments have deceived the nations by paying bailouts to banks and financial institutions to stem the so-called recession. They say that the statesmen have been hired by the capitalists and bankers obliging them to pay several thousand billions of dollars to the banks in the form of bailouts.
