Some 29 passengers on board a Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) were injured when the aircraft suffered a technical malfunction while landing at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah on Sunday. Spokesman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation Khaled bin Abdullah Khaybari said that at 4:14 on Sunday morning, Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 767 flight number 2841 carrying 315 passengers suffered a technical failure in the right rear wheels system and landed on the runway without their disengagement. He added that as a result of the evacuation process and the stampede of the passengers, 29 of them were injured, including 11 were transferred to hospital. Eighteen others suffered minor injuries and were treated at the primary health center at the airport. Khaybari said that the pilot informed the air control tower of the technical glitch in the back wheels system, making it impossible to lower the landing wheels of the right side of the plane, prompting the technical staffers at the airport to be prepared for an emergency landing. The plane was coming from the Iranian city of Mashhad.
