Lashkar Gah - Xinhua

Three policemen, including police chief of Garmser district, were killed late on Sunday when a roadside bomb blasted in southern Helmand province, a police official said on Monday. \"Police chief of Garmser district Saifullah Khan along with two policemen were killed when a roadside bomb went off near his vehicle along a road near the Garmser District bazaar Sunday evening,\" a provincial police official, Mohammad Ismail told Xinhua on Monday morning. He said another policeman was injured in the blast in the province with Lashkar Gah as its capital, 555 km south of capital city of Kabul. No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but Taliban suspects routinely claim responsibility for such attacks on security forces. Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since May this year when Taliban militants announced to launch spring offensive in the war-battered Afghanistan. The blast took place while Afghans are celebrating a three-day Eid-ul-Adha celebration begun on Sunday, the Muslim\'s largest annual festival amid tight security across the country. On the first day of Eid, Sunday, seven civilians were killed and 17 others injured when a suicide bomber targeted worshipers after Eid praying in country\'s northern Baghlan province.
