3 soldiers wounded in mine blast in SE Turkey

At least three soldiers of the Turkish security forces were wounded in a mine blast in southeastern Turkey on Tuesday, private Dogan news agency reported. The mine, probably planted by the members of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK), exploded when a group of Turkish soldiers stepped on the mine in Daglica region near Yuksekova town in Hakkari province, leaving three soldiers wounded, according to the report. The wounded were taken to a hospital in eastern Van province by helicopter for medical treatment. Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, the PKK took up arms in 1984 in an attempt to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey. Over 40,000 people have been killed in conflicts fuelled by PKK's separatist campaign in Turkey.
