Some 3,000 people were evacuated from several buildings in central Warsaw on Tuesday after workers building a metro line uncovered a bomb from World War II, dpa quoted police as saying. Police called the military to the scene to remove the 1.5-ton bomb and closed the area off to traffic. Several buildings, including the headquarters of Poland\'s National Bank and Polish television station TVP, were evacuated until the bomb was secured. The bomb was uncovered in the city\'s Warsaw Uprising Square, where a 1944 uprising broke out against the Nazis. It was the third such bomb uncovered in recent months as work continues on the second metro line in the capital. Some 20 people were evacuated on August 14 after workers repairing water pipes found a 500-kilogram World War II bomb. In February, some 400 people were evacuated when a 1.5-ton bomb was discovered.
