In a country-wide hunt for illegal residents, the Ministry of Interior nabbed a total of 457 violators during the past few days. Among them 268 were arrested in Abu Dhabi, 95 in Al Ain, 54 in Ajman and 40 in Ras Al Khaimah. Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalisation, Residency and Ports Affairs, Major General Nasser bin Al Awadi Al Menhali hailed the public cooperation that helped the authorities to track down the illegal residents. It was earlier last week a nation-wide drive was launched to create awareness against illegal immigration into the country under the slogan, ‘No to Violators’. The campaign, organised by the Directorate of Follow-Up of Violators and Foreigners Affairs set up by the Ministry of Interior, aims to encourage citizens and legal residents to fight the phenomenon of alien infiltration into the UAE by helping the authorities track the infiltrators. The all-out campaign is launched as per the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, noted Al Menhali.
