
At least 49 militants were killed in joint operations launched by Afghan forces and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) during the past twenty-four hours in different regions of the country. Afghanistan\'s Interior Ministry said in a statement today that Afghan forces carried out with ISAF several joint operations in different regions of the country, killing 49 Taliban militants, wounding eight others and arresting 11 others. The statement added that the operations took place in Helmand, Farah, Hirat, Logar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Kandahar, Balkh, Badkhstan, Kunduz, Badghis and Nangarhar provinces. The security forces seized large quantities of heavy and light weapons. However, the statement did not say if there were any casualties on the security forces.
