Five people were killed and several others wounded after a car bomb explosion hit the Eastern suburbs of the Syrian capital, Damascus. The incident occurred on Tuesday when an explosive-laden vehicle detonated in the capital’s al-Tadamun neighborhood, press tv reported. Syrian media blame the deadly attack on terrorists. The area has seen sporadic fighting between Syrian forces and the foreign-backed militants. The deadly attack comes as Syrian forces make advances in strategic areas in the suburbs of Damascus, blocking off a number of militant-held areas. Syria has been plagued by deadly unrest since March 2011. The United Nations has reported that more than 100,000 Syrians have been killed and million others displaced due to a militancy sponsored by the western powers and their regional allies -- namely Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. A very large number of the militants operating inside Syria are reportedly foreign nationals.
