EMERCOM planes airlifting tents for people evacuated from flood zones

The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) is airlifting a tent camp to accommodate people evacuated from flood zones in the Russian Far East, EMERCOM spokesperson Irina Rossius told Tass on Tuesday. “Two Ilyushin-76 planes took off from Ramenskoye airfield (outside Moscow), airlifting tents that can accommodate 125 people and 200 beds,” she said. “The same planes are carrying 25 rescuers who will set up the camp,” Rossius said. All in all, the tent camp will be able to accommodate 500 people, and the remaining tents will be airlifted by EMERCOM planes within the next few days. “This is an enhanced comfort camp. It consists of tents, some of which are of apartment type,” she added. “The residential zone envisages 110 tents, while the administrative and technical zones include a school, a club, an administration post, a first-aid post and even a washhouse,” she said. According to her, all conditions for normal life will be created in the tent camp. “People will be able to have a rest, wash clothes, have a wash and cook meals,” she added. The tent encampment will be able to function in an autonomous mode.
