7 inmates escape from prison in central India

Seven inmates, belonging to banned militant group Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi), escaped from a prison in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Tuesday, a senior police official said. \"The prisoners escaped at 3.30 a.m. (local time) after breaking through a toilet wall at Khandwa jail in the state. They also attacked policemen on duty while escaping, in which two cops sustained injuries. However, one of the prisoners was later caught, \" he said, on condition of anonymity. State Home Minister Uma Shanker Gupta has ordered a probe into the incident. \"There is no doubt there has been negligence in security,\" he told the media. Simi is accused of carrying out many deadly bomb blasts across the country.
