As many as eight members of Balochistan Assembly (BA), including ministers, submitted fresh affidavits regarding their nationality to the assembly secretariat, which were dispatched to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the same day. Immediately on receiving a letter from the electoral body, the provincial assembly secretariat wrote to its 65 members. Assembly said that within next day or two all the remaining MPAs were expected to file the declarations. Those who filed their affidavits declaring they had only Pakistani nationality include Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay, Younas Mullazai, Jay Parkash and Ismail Gujjar. Sources claimed there was hardly any member having dual nationality. When contacted on phone for his comments, the BA Speaker Mohammed Aslam Bhootani said without wasting time, they complied with the Supreme Court order and the ECP letter and communicated with all the members. “We are happy that the members have responded quickly and hopefully all of them may comply with the letter within next two to three days. The last date for sending fresh affidavits from the legislators to the ECP is Oct.9. From gulftoday
