At least eight people were killed and 35 others wounded in four bombing attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Sunday, police said. A car bomb went off in the Husseiniyah area of northeastern Baghdad, killing four people and injuring 11 others, a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. Three people were killed and 13 others wounded in a car bomb attack in the district of Sadr City in northeastern Baghdad, while nine people were wounded when another car bomb exploded in the al- Ameel district of southwestern Baghdad, the source said. One Iraqi was killed and two others were wounded when a sticky bomb went off in the northwestern Kasra district of Baghdad, he added. Sunday's attacks came amid escalation of sectarian tension between the Sunni and Shiite communities, which has been at its highest level since the U.S. troops pulled out from the country at the end of 2011. Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, 8,109 Iraqis were killed in the country from January to November this year.
