A 63-year-old Vietnam vet was stabbed by a group of young women on the train after he complained about their noisy behavior, New York police said. Ralph Carnegary was on his way to work as a souvenir vendor near the World Trade Center about 6:15 a.m. Sunday when he was attacked by a group of eight women and teenagers on the number 6 train in Manhattan, police told the New York Post. He was in stable condition at an area hospital after being treated for a stab wound in the shoulder. The women also beat him with their fists, reported the New York Daily News. He was trying to block their blows when he was stabbed. Police said the women were \"acting stupid\" and attacked Carnegary when he asked them to \"Relax. Calm down.\" The women, between the ages of 17 and 20, were arrested at the 23rd Street station. A bus driver who witnessed the arrests said the women were holding cans of beer when arrested the New York Post reported. They were charged with gang assault, disorderly conduct, rioting, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and felony assault. An eighth person, a 15-year-old girl, was arrested as a juvenile. The nature of her charges was not known.
