Abbas briefs Lithuanian official on political situation

President Mahmoud Abbas Monday briefed visiting Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis on the latest developments regarding the political process, particularly the impasse it has reached due to Israel’s refusal to accept the two-state solution and to stop settlement activities in the Palestinian Territory. Abbas reiterated Palestinian commitment to a serious peace process based on international resolutions calling for an end to the Israeli occupation, the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders, and a stop to settlements.
