President Mahmoud Abbas will meet Hamas leader Khaled Mishaal next week, Tuesday said Abbas’ political advisor, Nimer Hammad. Abbas and Mishaal will meet between November 22 and 25 in Cairo, but the final date for the anticipated meeting is not yet set, said Hammad. He added that US Special Envoy for Middle East Peace, David Hale, did not add anything new to the table after his meeting with Abbas on Monday in Ramallah regarding the halted peace process. Abbas informed Hale that resuming direct negotiations requires the Israeli government to halt settlement activities and accept the concept of the two-state solution based on 1967 borders, said Hammad. He stressed that US-Palestinian talks continue in line with efforts to resume the peace process, indicating a prior telephone call between Abbas and US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in which they discussed the Quartet meeting last week.
