Abbas to sign agreements with Sri Lanka

President Mahmoud Abbas will sign agreements to improve bilateral relations with Sri Lanka during his upcoming visit to Colombo, a Palestinian ambassador said Wednesday. Anwar al-Agha, ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, said Abbas and his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa will sign an agreement on political consultation and an accord to prevent double taxation and financial evasion. The delegation will be welcomed by the Sri Lankan committee for solidarity with Palestine, local officials and Arab ambassadors in Colombo, al-Agha said. Rajapaksa will host a formal dinner for Abbas at his palace. Abbas is due to arrive in Sri Lanka on Sunday, before heading to the Maldives for two days on Tuesday.
