Bardo - Tap

Mohamed Abbou, elected member of the Constituent Assembly representing the Congress for the Republic Party (CPR) said that "the next government should immediately start serious reforms in the social, economic and political fields." In a statement to TAP news agency on the sidelines of the inaugural session of the Constituent Assembly, he noted that "the legitimacy of this government entitles it to undertake reforms and fully carry out its duties." He also added that the compensation of martyrs and victims of the Revolution and the repression since 1955 and the acknowledgement by the state of the mistakes made with respect to them in order to achieve national reconciliation are on top of priority issues for the government. The transitional justice as conceived by the three-party-coalition Ennahdha/CPR/Ettakatol, Abbou reckoned, requires necessarily to put on trial all those who violated the rights of Tunisians or those guilty of torture and financial corruption. Abbou reaffirmed in conclusion "the right of Tunisian citizens to demonstrate peacefully and exercise their right to monitor the government performance."
