Benghazi - Tap

"Tunisia provided free Libya with a substantial aid, sparing it division into two parts," Libyan National Transitional Council Chairman Mustapha Abdejelil asserted. Addressing a Tunisian delegation led by Social Affairs Minister Mohamed Ben Naceur, during a meeting held on Wednesday in Benghazi, Mr. Abdejelil said that "Tunisia was there since the beginning of the revolution and did not hesitate to help the county at the military and logistic levels." He also recalled Tunisia's key role since the start last February 17, of the Libyan crisis, in bringing aids to Libya and hosting the refugees' flow, despite the difficult economic juncture Tunisia has been living through, notably in the south. The Libyan National Transitional Council Chairman seized the occasion to renew thanks to the Tunisian people "Leader of Arab Revolutions," for their generous hospitality and particularly warm welcome they have reserved to their Libyan brothers. Besides, he recalled Tunisia's position at the Arab League's level, backing up the decision of air embargo against Libya, which had spared the country a real humanitarian disaster. "The Libyan people will never forget Tunisia's historical support to Libya," he asserted. Shortly before the meeting, Mr. Mustapha Abdejelil said that "the fate of Gaddafi who is subject to an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), is still unknown, dismissing all possibility that Gaddafi could take refuge in Tunisia which, he specified, is among the first countries to have ratified the Rome Statute. The Libyan revolution, he estimated, has not finished yet, as far as the Ras Jedir border crossing on the Libyan side has not been liberated and the regions adjoining it are not completely under the control of rebels. The Libyan National Transitional Council Chairman said that he was optimistic about Libya's future which, he reckoned "will be indisputably radiant" and would help establish a democratic State where freedoms are guaranteed and Human rights respected.
