Abdul-Gadir affirms Sudan government to sign cooperation agreement

The State Minister at the Presidency of the Republic and head of the government delegation for the negotiations with South Sudan State, Idris Abdul-Gadir, has reiterated Sudan commitment to implement the matrix of nine agreements signed between Sudan and South Sudan, which includes the agreements on the security arrangements, economic cooperation, especially oil and its exportation through Sudan, the movement of citizens and the dealing with them, trade and banking cooperation. At a press conference he held Tuesday noon at Khartoum Airport following his return from Addis Ababa, Abdul-Gadir said that the two parties signed an agreement for implementing the agreements that were signed on December 27, 2012, provided that the agreement is to begin on March 10. He said that nine committed will meet on March 17 to follow up and to implement the agreements. He said that the committee for the movement and situation of the citizens and demarcation of the borders is due to meet on March 17 toward making the joint border a flexible and safe one and establishing good neighborliness. Abdul-Gadir has appreciated the regional and international for realizing the accomplishment, especially the role done by the African Union Implementation Panel for Sudan, which is headed by Thabo Mbeki, the IGAD Chairman and Ethiopian Prime Minister, Haile-Mariam Desalegn, and the special envoy of the UN Secretary General, Haile Menkerios. He said that there will be a disarmed area after withdrawal of the two armies on April 6. He announced that a higher committee headed by the President of the Republic and his two deputies, besides nine specialized branch committees were formed to follow up and implement the nine agreements and to solve any difficulties facing realization of sustainable peace and joint cooperation for creating flexible and safe border and facilitate linking between the citizens of the two countries.
