Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque and member of the Constituent Council of the Muslim World League Shaikh Youssef Jumaa Salama has welcomed the selection of the Medina city as the Capital of Islamic Culture for the year 2013. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the scholar said that the event would provide an opportunity to shed light on the life and conduct of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and highlight the city\'s distinguished religious position as capital of Islamic culture and world centre for science and enlightenment. He also lauded the great interest and care of the Saudi government, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Crown Prince, in the Two Holy Mosques and the landmark services they provide for pilgrims, citing the recently approved expansion of the Prophet\'s holy Mosque. He also hailed Saudi Arabia\'s support for Islam and Muslims all over the world, including the Palestinians.
