
Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb underlined that Al Azhar supports Mali in facing terrorism.
He said that the great Islamic edifice is ready to allocate scholarships to the Malians and train the Malian preachers to overcome the current challenges and correct misconceptions about Islam.
These remarks came during the meeting held between el Tayyeb and the Malian Ambassador here Mamadou Mangara.
For his part, Mangara expressed his appreciation to Al Azhar's role played in spreading the moderate teachings of Islam and the efforts exerted by its imams in attaining peace.
He further said that his country looks forward to promoting cooperation with Al Azhar to fight extremist ideas.
