Syria\'s permanent Envoy to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari affirmed that aggression on the cultural and historic edifices in different areas of Syria is an additional proof on the extremist, brutal mentality of al-Qaeda-linked terrorist groups. \"The armed terrorist groups\' aggression on historic features indicates the form of culture those foreign mercenary extremists are promising for the Syrian tolerant, open-minded society,\" al-Jaafari said in a letter sent to the UN secretary General and President of the Security Council. \"The government of the Syrian Arab Republic holds the terrorist groups in Syria and the countries which support them full responsible for the losses that affected or will affect the civilized, historic edifices in Syria,\" al-Jaafari added. He said that the Takfiri terrorist groups have escalated their aggressions on the civilized features in Syria in light of connivance of some regional, international states who encourage terrorists to attack , loot some historic pieces and smuggle them to outside the country.
