Kuwait - KUNA

The Chairman of the Syrian Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Ahmad Al-Jarba said Tuesday that his coalition will attend Geneva II conference only on the principles determined by the opposition. At the opening session of the 34th GCC summit earlier in the evening, Al-Jarba said "today marks 1,000 days since the start of the Syrian revolution, " adding that had there not been a summit "we would have called for an urgent meeting due to the deteriorating situation they face. "The injustice our people face is well known, a tragic situation that is no longer acceptable," Al-Jarba said. "I will not repeat stories of massacres because you see them every day in the news, nor will I mention the numbers of deaths because you also see them on the screens every day committed by a regime you all know and some of you dealt with," Al-Jarba said. Al-Jarba added that he will talk today about a tragedy that threatens the fabrication of Arabs as a whole, a threat to all of the Islamic world. "It is the tragedy which will not spare anyone, I repeat will not spare anyone." The Syrian opposition leader said that the "criminal regime has become desperate and couldn't portray the revolution as an agent to Israel, or a US operation as he wanted to sell in his media," adding the regime in Damascus "wants to play the card of radical groups ... ." Al-Jarba said that "Syria today needs you and a stable and modern Syria will reflect positively on all Arabian Gulf countries." "Yes to the political solution, since the first day of revolution, but the criminal regime did not accept any political solution and ... kill its own people and destroy its country. "Today, we are supporting a political solution, but a just solution that will eliminate the criminals ... and our participation in the Geneva II does not mean we are going for a political seminar," he said. Al-Jarba said the Gevena II should be based on the final communique of Geneva I. The Syrian opposition official noted that the Syrians today needs to tell the world clearly that there is no place for Bashar Al-Assad's regime, because "its unreasonable and unethical that criminals remain part of the political solution, and without such condition Geneva II will become void." Al-Jarba, finally concluded by thanking the State of Kuwait, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people for their support to the Syrian people.
