
Kuwait has succeeded in retaining an important international position through the re-electiion of its representative, adviser Nawaf Abdullah Al-Mihmel as Vice President of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO). Al-Mihmel expressed to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) his pride in this success, which reinforces the status of the State of Kuwait in international organizations and its leading and prominent role in the international community. He added that Kuwait's retaining of this important position coincides with the growing role of the organization, which opened a new regional center in The Hague. He said that the organization provides support to the legal programs and assist the United Nations bodies in the implementation of development programs in many developing countries and those emerging from conflict. Al-Mihmel pointed out that the organization has completed several programs in Kuwait to promote human development in cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), which has been providing training opportunities for Kuwaiti legal experts working in government agencies. He noted that the IDLO, in collaboration with the Fatwa and Legislation Department in Kuwait, have carried out translation work of all Kuwaiti laws into English and classified them in accordance with the western system for the sake of promoting a favorable climate for foreign investment and to enhance the status aspired by Kuwait to become a financial center
