Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Shareeda Al-Mousherji met separately here on Wednesday with the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the Egyptian Grand Mufti Dr. Shawqi Allam and State Council Chairman Justice Farid Tanagho. Al-Azhar, under Dr. Al-Tayyeb expresses gratitude to the State of Kuwait for its support to the aspirations of the Egyptian people, said Secretary of Al-Azhar Sheikhdom Dr. Abbas Shoman told KUNA after the meeting between Al-Mousherji and Dr. Al-Tayyeb. "The cordial meeting showed the shared optimism, understanding and identical views between Egypt and Kuwait on almost all issues of mutual concern for the Arab and Muslim nations," Dr. Shoman affirmed. He appreciated Kuwait's contributions to various charitable and educational projects being implemented by Al-Azhar including the care for Al-Azhar students from across the Muslim world. He added that Dr. Al-Tayyeb praised during the meeting the role of the Cairo-based Kuwait office for charitable projects - an affiliate of Kuwait's Zakat House, in financing several projects in the fields of healthcare, culture and socio-economic development across Egypt. On his meeting with Minister Al-Mousherji, the Egyptian Grand Mufti Dr. Shawqi Allam said they discussed the historical deep-rooted ties between the two countries and ways to promote cooperation in Islamic affairs. "There is a growing cooperation between the Egyptian and Kuwaiti ministries of justice and awqaf as well as the departments of "iftaa' (religious advice-giving institutions) in such areas as Islamic jurisprudence and studies, " Dr. Allam said. He added that Egypt is striving to emerge from the ongoing delicate stage, noting that the draft constitution takes stock of the concerns of all social spectrums in the country. On his part, Justice Tanagho said the Egyptian and Kuwaiti judiciary institutions maintained close ties and exchange legal assistance long decades ago. "As part of judiciary cooperation the Kuwaiti legal and democratic institutions employ expertise from the State Council of Egypt," he said in similar statements to KUNA following his meeting with the Kuwaiti minister. Justice Tanagho highlighted the need to further enhance the legal and judiciary cooperation between the two countries, and thanked Kuwait for the supportive stance on the June 30 revolution in Egypt.
