
Albanian border police in southern region of Gjirokaster have detained 13 illegal immigrants who entered Albanian territory illegally. The immigrants from Syria and Somalia were detained near the village of Nepravishte, around 12 km from the city of Gjirokaster, local police said in a statement on Thursday. The illegal immigrants were planning to land in Italy through Albanian southern port of Vlora, the statement added. Officials estimated that Albanian Border Police in Gjirokaster have detained over 2000 illegal immigrants in 2013, mainly from Afghanistan, Iraq, Tunisia, Syria and Somalia.
