Algerian Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel will travel to Abuja, capital of Nigeria, on Sunday, to attend the extraordinary summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He will represent Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the summit which due to open tomorrow. The summit will discuss the instabilities in Algeria’s southern neighbor Mali and the entire Sahel region, according to a statement issued by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Saturday. Messahel will also convey messages from President Bouteflika to current President of ECOWAS and President of Cote d’Ivoire Alassane Ouattara, and Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.
